Where we are
Compassionate Communities NI is a network of cross-sector organisations and individuals across the region of Northern Ireland.
Why
Death and dying are social issues as well as a medical issue.
Sadly, many people impacted by advanced illness and frailty report feeling lonely and socially isolated. Loneliness and social isolation negatively affects a person’s mental, emotional and physical health. The damage to health is widely accepted to be equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
What
End of life is part of life.
Our commitment is to co-design a compassionate community response that will support people on their final journey, and the continued journey for those they leave behind.
Living well to the end of life.
Our commitment is to normalise conversations around death and to improve experiences of dying, death and bereavement.
Where
A compassionate response to the challenges regarding end of life is relevant to all communities. In the places we live, work, learn, play, and pray.
Who
Our two hubs in Northern Ireland are located in the North West and Northern localities.
