Plan Ahead Programme

The Plan Ahead Programme by Compassionate Communities NI is a vital initiative designed to empower individuals and families to make informed decisions about their future health, personal care, and end-of-life preferences.

Through this programme, we aim to provide the tools and support necessary for people to express their wishes clearly and confidently, ensuring their choices are respected.

Thanks to the support of our partners.

Our Key Messages

Planning Ahead is for anyone over the age of 18, with the mental capacity to make decisions about future care needs.

Planning Ahead ensures that your wishes are known at a time when you are unable to make decisions or communicate them.

Planning Ahead gives you more control of your life. Planning Ahead makes it more likely that you will receive the care you want. You can change your plans at any time.

The Art of Life

Led by Creative Cavan, this cross border project funded through CreativeIrl Shared Island aims to use creative approaches to normalise conversations around planning for end of life, dying and death.

“The Advanced Care Planning webinar was very informative and highlighted the importance of having conversations with family and friends around personal, legal, clinical and financial wishes.

Kathleen Bradley and Dr Colum Farrelly were wonderful facilitators and got participates thinking about what’s important to them and their loved ones.”.
