Death Positive Library launched in the Northern Regional College

Northern Regional College has launched a ‘Death Positive Library’ in Ballymena. The initiative is one of the many positive outcomes of the College’s ongoing partnership with the Northern Health and Social Care Trust. It builds on the success of the ‘Read Yourself Well’ project, which aims to help people understand and manage their health and wellbeing through reading.

This new initiative will give local students access to a wide range of hard copy and electronic books on dying, death and bereavement. This will allow them to explore ideas and thoughts on the subject from a range of different perspectives and it will also help them with further studies.

A Death Positive Library provides a range of innovative activities and resources for those people living, working or studying in their community. It aims to remove the barriers of talking about death and dying. The College’s Death Positive Library at its Trostan Avenue campus will have a dedicated bookshelf, where students can browse the wide range of books available to them, to assist with their studies.
